<br/><br/>you can get them from Greg Marsh at Fresenuis.
<br/><br/>A quick call to Fresenuis Huthwaithe might be a good start.

We have a similar discolouration of Gambro dialysate hoses. However, it is not deposits, it is actually the tubing changing colour. We questioned whether it was using Clinell cleaning wipes but when we stopped, the discolouration continued. Remains unresolved!

Hi Ian,
<br/>If it is iron oxide the 3 possible sources we found after investigating various CS3 customer complaints about 10 years ago were:
<br/>1/RO input raw water tank which on inspection was antiquated and grossly contaminated (iron bacteria),problem resolved after in depth clean from inside tank.
<br/>2/Bicarb cartridge (not Gambro) contamination which was visible as a grey line when fluid filled, there were 2 raw material suppliers identified Solvay and Brunner Mond but I can't recall which was the offending product but it was a short term problem due to lack of high quality medical grade bicarb raw material from normal supplier.
<br/>3/Sodium hypochlorite 5% - contamination having been produced in a steel tank.
<br/><br/>4/Also from my Sheffield NHS days either groundwater sources (most common) or reservoirs fed by streams running through iron deposits can have high levels, they try to reduce this by manual dosing with an aluminum oxide as a flocculant which was problematical as it caused brain damage before it was discovered and removed.

Hi Ian,
<br/>We used to have horrendous problems with this in the COBE C3 mixer chamber in some accounts,it's almost certainly iron oxide which is so small it passes through membranes and comes out of solution when the pH changes in the machine and can be removed fairly easily using oxalic acid or if its still available a product called Super Iron Out.

Anyone else seen this on their 5008 machines?
<br/><br/>A rusty looking deposit in the pipework from the mixing chamber to the balance flow and through A02.
<br/>This is the second one we have found and after stripping down the first one it appeared to originate in the mixing chamber so wondered if it was something to do with the S02 perhaps?

<br/>It is on th LP1142 external I/O board from a 5008S.
<br/>It is marked X075F WHAZ although the X may be a manufacturer symbol as it is 2 overlapping Vs.

<br/>Overtemp switch
<br/>Peltier element
<br/>SAW delay line
<br/>Crystal oscillator

Different machine but we work the other way around by leaving the majority of the drain connected to the media panel. This connects to a self sealing coupling on a small length of hose at machine end.

At a cost of 50p we can now transport our 5008 machine around without the dirty drain hose being draped all over the recently cleaned machine.

<br/><br/>All going well so far. We have only used the parted section that the hosing has straight from the packet. What I'm trying to say is that we haven't tried to part the two tubes any further from as they arrive from Fresenius.

We've been getting a bit fed up with the amount of tubing behind our 5008 machines so are trying this out...
<br/><br/>We don't use the flush function so why not use the redundent part of the tubing and keep things neater?

I wouldn't admit to anything like that! or that I used it out of date......I obtained all the new size caps/connectors FOC and when I worked out the cost difference it was not that much more, litre for litre and I feel 'happier' about less waste etc. I can't disclose the price we pay, we are a private concern you know, but whinge and nag like I did!

Did you negotiate a good price for the 1l cans? i couldn't believe the difference in price. Tell me your staff weren't really pouring it down the sink?
tag:art-forum.84.s1.nabble.com,2006:post-208Re: Sporotal 1002015-02-26T07:02:28Z2015-02-26T07:02:28ZRichard Furminger
Hi Fraser,
<br/>Yes, have had similar expiry date 'problems' in the past, just 7 or 8 months remaining. On one occasion, at my request, they even resupplied us but still there was not a great deal of difference. LIke yourself, only using Sporotal weekly resulted in a huge amount going down the sink. Finally I switched to 1lt cans which although slightly more expensive results in no waste, lasts 12 weeks or more, and sits more comfortably on the rear shelf with the adjacent 5lt Citrosteril. i.e. less chance of both larger cans tumbling off and those nasty fluids mixing on the floor and producing a toxic gas!

We've just had a batch of Sporotal through with only seven months remaining before the expiry date. With this date we will only use about half the 4.3L can and have to dispose of the rest as hazardous waste. Just wondered what others are seeing in terms of expiry date? I'm sure I've seen them longer
<br/>We looked at switching to 1L cans but the cost is a lot more and I'm not sure how secure the can would be on the back.
<br/>Is anyone one else noticing this?
