I'll get more details Mike but in a nutshell this is what we do:
Fresenius 5008S -
FloorWe usually lino the whole floor. Sometimes patients may request only a small section of a carpeted room doing.
Electrics• Electrical check by qualified person
Not an option to leave out in our opinion due to the manufacturer’s recommendations and also those of the British Standard 60601-1-11:2015.
To ensure that there is a good and safe electrical connection for the equipment including the integrity of the protective earth.
• Fitting of extra sockets
We find rooms barely have enough sockets for an additional piece of equipment or even the addition of an electric chair. By providing the sockets we also ensure that medical equipment is only connected to fully checked and safe electrical outlets.
They are fitted at a raised height to make them easily accessible in case of an emergency rather than scraping around a skirting board level. It also brings the electrical supply above the line of any water connections.
• Fitting an RCD
Convert existing 13amp socket in the room to house a 10 mA RCD (Residual Current Device) and place a waterproof enclosure over it to ensure that the sockets are protected. Some houses still have the old consumer units with no RCD protection.
• Fitting an emergency light
This was originally fitted to assist patients in the event of a power cut. Seeing as power cuts are rare these days and that the machines have battery back-up and themselves give off considerable light we felt that after the review we could also omit these from future installations.
We have no secondary earth points fitted and our equipment plugs into a regular 3 pin socket although we tell the patient to only use the sockets that we install.
WaterWe provide contractor with 2 10" filter housings and all walthers for drain upstand. No softeners required up here luckily. Not had to use and Saniflows or boost pumps yet although we have fitted a few pressure reduction valves. Isolation ball valves are fitted before the filters but we don't fit any leakage detectors currently. Pipework is done in 15mm copper. Filter bowls are mounted on a gloss white board.
Machine MovementWe use a local contractor who charges £230 for a machine delivered to the dialysis room whatever floor/location it is.
We usually get same day on next day response from our contractor.
NxStage
ElectricsSee above.
Water• Bring water supply in to the room and provide a hose union connection
As per the guidance from the manufacturer we bring the water supply into the room to avoid injury from tripping when having hoses spanning what may be several rooms. Most properties that are selected for NxStage are done so because of the lack of room in the first place. .
• Fit lever ball stop tap
Fitted so the water can be shut off easily especially for people where dexterity may be compromised due to their chronic condition.
• Drainage – Connected to sink waste pipe or drill the wall and take the drain to the grid outside of the property. A leak free and reliable connection to the drainage system is provided.
Will get confirmation but I think this is around a third of the standard HD installation.
